About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide pavement asset management, pavement design / scoping, and pavement deterioration modelling and analysis expertise to the Road Infrastructure Planning Program. The position is a senior member of the Roads Asset Management team which primarily ensures asset life cycle value through optimising road network and other associated asset renewals, asset maintenance and operational performance to meet customer service obligations and provide safe and reliable services to our growing community. 

This position requires not only an experienced and competent Senior Engineer for Pavement Asset Management, but also a solution focused and proactive out of the box thinker, with a finger on the pulse with innovative solutions, technology applications and industry knowledge of Australian road regulations.

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia RPEQ registration is required
  • Extensive experience in Pavement Asset Management including thorough knowledge of road and pavement rehabilitation design and construction practices
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake pavement treatment selection and material testing with the ability to analyse large datasets to distil findings and make recommendations which are pertinent to Council’s existing pavement management practices
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated ability in use of pavement management systems and modelling packages such as HDM4, SMEC, dTIMS or similar is highly advantageous
  • Demonstrated highly developed computer skills including sound knowledge of relational databases and their operation and function
  • Experience with a Geographical Information System (GIS) is desirable, preferably ESRI
  • Have strong knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and policies
  • Possess strong ability to effectively manage risk within road and stormwater infrastructure and associated site work
  • Demonstrate well-developed oral and written communication skills including the ability to influence, network and establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in the compilation of concise, written technical reports and complex documents will be highly regarded
  • Show ability to actively participate as a member of a team with high levels of self-motivation and commitment to achieving high standards with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Research and innovation background in pavement management is desirable
